Trend Spotting at the Atlanta Gift Show: Mason Jar Mania
A Mason jar is a molded glass jar used in canning to preserve food. The Mason jar was invented and patented in 1858 by Philadelphia tinsmith John Landis Mason(1832-1902). While largely supplanted by other methods, such as the tin can and plastic containers, for commercial mass production, they are still commonly used in home canning. As it turns out today these jars are also being used for everything from light fixtures to vases, invitations, drinking glasses, soap dispensers and snow globes.
